been gone for some time
just got back from the czech republic and was able to visit the mucha museum. it was very humbling to say the least but unfortunately, i was not able to visit moravsky krumlov. this is where mucha's slav epic is displayed. the architecture and artwork was extremely inspiring and now it's back to work. will post some new sketches and progress on current work as well. thank you to everyone for your very kind comments. cheers. tnv

promotional materialism.
i finally got around to print 2 promos and a business card (sort of). if anyone is interested, just drop me a line with a address and i will send them out to you as long as i still have them available. i think the die cut adds pretty well to the images.
also finally got around to test print my first few archival prints on a friend's wide format printer. they came out quite beautiful but others still need alot of tweaking. will post them as soon as they are fully resolved.
she's long over due!!!
so i haven't posted for a month!!! well, at least i finally resolved her dress and decided to just indicate and loosely define the dress as it flows down. now i have a new problem which is just to finish the rest of the drawing. as you can see on the upper left, i have started the archway above her. i guess the architectural elements of the archway has decided to define it's art nouveau details. will be actually be taking a break for the next 3 weeks. in any case, i want to step away from this for awhile and get a breather. all you artists know what i mean, right? i would like to sincerely thank all who have given me suggestions. cheers.

too much rendering!!!
just a close detail of the drapery on this current project. i told myself that i wouldn't be working so tight but somehow i have drifted back into the ultra rendering mode ... something that i am not too pleased with. i know i have to loosen her up gradually towards the bottom of the dress (no pun intended .. ha ha). we'll just have to wait and see how i am going to resolve this.

heat vs heart.
so i started this smaller (4' x 5') drawing hoping i can finish it considerably faster than the last. i can honestly say that i really enjoy doing drapery which is ironic because i wasn't so good at it in school. unfortunately the heat in california is not so great to draw in. oh well, the show must go on.

the complete picture
i finally got around to trying to capture a complete image but i still had to play around with it in photoshop. thanks to dex mission for his advice but unfortunately, the workspace does not allow for more than 10 feet from the original piece. regardless, i am content with its ultimate result and am now working on a new drawing a little smaller (4' x 5') ... back to work.

idiosyncratic details
so she's finally done. i can't believe it has taken so long to finish but with it being the size it is, i don't feel so bad. i will post it up on my site soon ... i just have to figure how to shoot the whole image without any distortion ... but for now, here are some particular details that i do like. :)

gone but not forgotten
wow ... i can't believe it's been 5 years since i produced this drawing. it was probably the beginning of my obsession with large scale charcoal/graphite drawings. although, it is comparitively small (4.5' x 2.5') to what i am doing now. in any case, i sold it and unfortunately do not have any high res pics of this anymore. i really like the composition although now i question the gothy dark floating structure ... thinking about re-doing this even larger someday without the dark undertones. well, at least my drawing skills have improved ... i think?

website to launch soon
been basically trying to work out the glitches in my site. i actually have the old one up right now but i designed a new practical banner and also will soon remove the movie from the splash page. nobody wants to sit and wait for a 22mb file to download before entering a site ... not me anyways. i hope my peers will approve of the design. trying to make everything more simplistic is harder said than done because in the end, "less is always more".

teaser
so as a teaser i have ran a test print of four poster comps. i really like how they all came out. some more than others of course. i will post hi-res images as soon as the site is up. can't give everything away, right? ... i need to work on some more poster comps but lately, been feeling drained mentally from designing.
