idiosyncratic details

so she's finally done. i can't believe it has taken so long to finish but with it being the size it is, i don't feel so bad. i will post it up on my site soon ... i just have to figure how to shoot the whole image without any distortion ... but for now, here are some particular details that i do like. :)

Hello, I think your site is great. I definitely see the MUCHA influence.

I hope you don’t mind, but I was thinking about what you said about taking pictures without distortions, and I came up with a few suggestions.

If you are taking the picture with an SLR and given that you can step back far enough to capture the whole thing, take the picture at about 90-105 mm. This range will offer the least amount of distortion. I am lucky enough to own a 90 mm 1/1 macro, and I use it to take pictures of artwork all the time. The results are great.

My other suggestion is edit it digitally. I know Photoshop CS2 has easy ways of manipulating distortions. It was one of the things Adobe bragged about before releasing the product. I used the function a couple of times a while back, and I remember it being very easy. It was a filter or something simple like a filter. Regarless, the process was painless.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

dex mission: thank you so much for your suggestion. i will definitely try it out and post it as soon as i can. since, most of my pieces are quite large, this piece of advice will be invaluable.

alina chau: thank you for your kind comments. your conceptual sketches bring to mind the ephemeral playfulness of the impressionist period.

yasser: surprisingly, i did undertake this drawing myself. i am very pleased to hear your kind comments. this drawing was actually done after my trip back from prague hence the art nouveau influence.
